My First Time Flying

There are some items on my bucket list that terrify me, and flying used to be one of them.  Yes, used to be. Turns out, I love flying.

For the longest time, I refused to get on a plane, despite many offers of travel being presented to me.   It terrified me to the core, the technology just didn't make sense to me, and it just seemed really scary.  That was, until recently....when my friend that I hadn't seen in over a year and myself both became vaccinated.  One of the hardest things about this past year had been not seeing my friends. In particular the one that lives in Nevada.  So with this new information, I cashed in my stimulus and purchased one plane ticket from Columbus to Las Vegas.  I took of a Thursday afternoon and was anxious the entire drive to the airport, but once I was seated on the plane, my nerves suddenly settled.  I loved taking off and I wasn't even bothered by turbulence.  It was an amazing experience, and I hadn't even met my friend yet.

Just like with discovering I liked flying, my fear often holds me back from amazing experiences.  I will be filled with fear, until after I do the thing which I end up loving.  I did the same thing with rollercoasters.  I let my fear hold me back from something amazing, that I could have been enjoying for years now.  However, just like up until now I have forgotten this lesson, I will probably forget the next time my fear comes up.  I will try my best though, because it turns out, sometimes your best adventure is right on the other side of your fear.
