Mount Rushmore National Monument

Yes, she is problematic...but I had one and only one reason for going to Mount Rushmore, and it was to wear this shirt and take this photo.  I purchased this vintage shirt years ago and I love it, but I always wanted to wear it here...so when I knew that I was going to be in the area on my road trip I made sure to include it.  As you can see, it was a total success and absolutely worth it in my opinion.  This trip however did cause some pause when it came to the historical accuracy and the white washing in the museum and the exhibits.  I would absolutely recommend doing some research into the history before you go, especially when it comes to native history.  This was also by far the most packed park when it came to covid precautions.  A big part of this trip was social distancing and we were almost always able to do it easily.  This was the stop that was the most crowded, so we wore our masks and kept our distance.  We had a great time at Mount Rushmore and in the city below it, which is where I rode my first alpine slide.
