Devil's Tower National Monument
One of the stops on our road trip out west was Devil's Tower National Monument. I loved this stop on our trip for so many reasons, the obvious being the magnificent landscape and the second being the spiritual and paranormal aspects of it. One of the reasons that I found it so astounding was that all around it is flat and just out of nowhere is this giant stone appearing to rise from the ground below. It is absolutely breathtaking. It is also huge, you just don't fully grasp the size of the structure until you are walking the path around the base of it and it seems to just go on for miles and miles. It was amazing. You also get a sense of how holy and sacred this place is for so many people. I loved seeing the variety of prayer cloths around the trees and bushes. Then there is the alien aspect of the places, which is known for it's abductions but also film history. It hit so many of my interests points and I loved it. I would absolutely recommend hiking the path around the base and the further around you go the less people there are to deal with. I loved this stop of our trip so much.
