National Park Roadtrip Day 1

I write this covered up in bed here in a hotel room in St Louis. Right on the banks of the mighty Mississippi and in the shadow of the Arch. It is the end of our first day on our National Park roadtrip. I left town right after I got off of work and we rolled into town here around 1:00am. It’s been a long day but I am both exhausted and full of energy at the same time. I am sitting here thinking how absolutely lucky I am to get to travel to all these places.  As we rolled into town you could see the grand arch looming on the horizon. I can’t wait to see it in the fresh morning light. We are here on the Fourth of July. I love that I get to spend the birthday of this land in national parks and sites. What an absolute honor to celebrate on the sites that make this land of ours beautiful and breathtaking. I also find it symbolic that I am beginning my trip out west at the gateway to the west.

I don’t know if I will be able to get too close to visit the museum and take many pictures, since it is the Fourth of July and the city is packed. We are also hitting the road quite early since we hope to make it all the way to our next stop at Colorado Springs. I am looking forward to a dream week. Travel is such a gift.
