Primitive Walk In Sites at Hocking Hills

A few weeks back, my cousin Katie and I went up to Hocking Hills State Park overnight and decided to stay in the primitive walk in sites within the state park.  I had so much trouble finding information about what these sights looked like and how accessible they were, so I wanted to write this post up so hopefully when someone else is looking they can have that information also.  My main question was how far away from the parking lot were the actual sites, since we had to walk back all of our things.  The sites are set up along one gravel road which extended from a parking lot.  They were also pretty far from the main road so they felt safe while also having the secluded parking lot so you aren't far from your vehicle.  Your proximity to your car depends on which site you book.  So the further back on the road your site, the farther from your car you will be.  We picked the second site back on the left side so we would be pretty close to the car.  We were also directly across from the toilet.  All of the sights were large and quite private which was nice.  I would recommend, if you can, to bring a wagon to carry out your items.  We filled our water jug in the parking lot and used the wagon to carry it to our site and also were able to use it for our cooler and wood for the fire. This made things so much easier for us.  Each site had a fire ring and a picnic table.  We also drove up to the campground with electric to get our showers.  At night it was quiet enough to be enjoyable but you were close enough to neighbors that to me if felt quite safe. Which is always important to me but especially when it was just the two of us.  As far as cooking goes, we took a little backpacking stove, but ended up just using the fire and our pie irons.  While we were there we did plenty of hiking and we also went on a tubing trip.  It was such a fun weekend and if you are comfortable with primitive camping I think that this is such a great option and I would highly recommend it.
